A Guide on Creating and Managing Your Google Ads Account

September 30, 2022 0 Comments

Brands that want a successful digital marketing campaign should include pay-per-click marketing as an integral part of the process. Operating a Google Ads account is especially important as Google owns an incredible 93% of the global search market.

Specifically, knowing how to create and use a Google Ads account will be especially crucial.

This article will give you a detailed guide on how to create your own Google Ads account. We will also instruct you on managing a campaign on Google Ads as well as practical techniques that can help your PPC campaigns succeed

How to Create a Google Ads Account

Having your own Google Ads account—formerly known as Google AdWords—doesn’t have to be difficult. The company behind the world’s biggest search engine has made it easy for anyone to open an Ads account and get started on creating PPC campaigns.

The biggest prerequisites for marketers to start their Google Ads account are a functional email address (preferably one which is registered as a Google Account), and a fully operational website. Your Ads account won’t work if the account isn’t connected to your website.

Creating a Google Ads Account Through Your Personal Email

Go to the Google Ads website and sign up for an account. Fill out the necessary fields in the registration form, and once you’ve verified your account, you can immediately create a PPC campaign for your website.

The process becomes simpler if you use a Gmail account (or other email address that has been registered as a Google Account) to create your Google Ads account. Once your account is linked to your email address, you can immediately start finding keywords that you can focus on.

If you want to keep your personal email separate from your business’ PPC efforts, use your business email to create a specific Google Ads account for your website.

Creating a Google Ads Account Through a Manager Account

Agencies usually use Manager Accounts to let them handle multiple websites at once, making it easy to organize and monitor different PPC accounts.

We only recommend this method if you intend to manage multiple Google Ads accounts for entirely separate companies or legal entities.

These are the steps you must take if you want to make a Google Ads account from your company’s manager account:

Step 1. Sign in to your Google Ads Manager account.

Step 2. Click on Settings from the menu on the left, and select Sub-Account Settings.

Step 3. Click the Plus Button and choose “Create new account”.

Step 4. Choose whether you want to create an entirely new Ads account or a Smart Campaign account. A Smart Campaign account will create a Google Ads account with Smart Mode immediately activated. You can turn on Expert Mode anytime.

Step 5. Give the new account a name, and select the country and time zone. You cannot change the location and time zones after activating the account, so you must be careful with your choices.

Step 6. Select a permanent currency for the account. We recommend you check the payment methods for the currency of your choice. It’s also important to remember that certain currencies aren’t available in some areas.

Step 7. Click “Invite other users (optional)” to allow other users in your company to operate the account. You can authorize other users to use the account with Administrative, Standard, or Read-only access. You can also start the account without inviting any other users to the account.

Step 8. Once you’re happy with the settings, select “Create account”.

Starting a Google Ads Campaign

Starting a Google Ads CampaignYou can immediately start working on your PPC campaigns once your Google Ads account is set up. If you’re still new to working on PPC campaigns, this section will provide a detailed guide on starting your first Google Ads campaign.

Step 1. Once you’re signed in to your Google Ads account, set a goal for your advertising campaign. Click Campaigns, select the plus button and then choose New Campaign. Select your advertising goal, set as many conversion goals as you want, click the campaign type, and choose Continue.

Step 2. Make sure that your campaign type is suitable to your campaign’s specific business goals. There are different kinds of Ad campaigns that you can run for different platforms.

Ad Campaign Types

You can pay for different kinds of paid search campaigns. Understanding what each campaign entails can help you select the suitable campaigns that will help you reach your goals more effectively. Here are some of the most common ad campaigns you can run:

Search: Text ads on text-based queries.

Display: Show visual ads on websites.

Video: Have your company’s video ads shown on YouTube videos.

Shopping: Showcase your product listings on Google.

Quick Tips That Can Help Your PPC Campaigns

If you want to make the most of the effectiveness of your Google Ads campaigns, we’re more than happy to help. Here are some tips that should help improve the performance of your Ads campaigns.

Target the Right Audience

A great PPC campaign will be a waste of money if the people that see your ads aren’t interested in the first place. Ensure your ads target the right audience to maximise your campaign’s effectiveness.

Use Pay Per Conversion

Google Ads recently released a Pay Per Conversion feature that makes it easier to get sales from display. Make sure that this feature is activated for your ad campaigns.

Determine Your Ad Budget and Bidding Strategy

An unhinged paid ad campaign can quickly drain your marketing funds if you don’t limit your budget. Establish the limits that you’re comfortable spending for your campaigns so you can better assess the performance of your PPC campaigns.

Get A Better Handle on Your Google Ads Account Today

You can get better engagement and conversions from users that are genuinely interested in your service if you have a solid handle on your Google Ads campaign.
